The recording was made by the Navarre Symphony Orchestra and features the German violinist Yuki Manuela Janke, winner of the ninth edition of the Pablo Sarasate International Violin Contest.
HIS LEGACY
Upon his death, Pablo Sarasate bequeathed to Pamplona City Council an important collection of personal objects including jewellery, furniture, letters, photographs, various objet d’art and instruments. This legacy also included scores of his works and those he used for concerts throughout his career. The musician’s legacy is currently on display at the Public Records Office (‘Archivo Municipal’, No. 11, C/Mercado)
On the centenary of his death, Pamplona City Council will be renovating and improving this public exhibition by moving it to a new location. The main aim is to show the musical and artistic breadth of the great Sarasate, and his close relationship with his home town of Pamplona throughout his life. The new exhibition should open in September 2008.
